Cheltenham vs Carlisle Predictions
Although there is often a late run towards the play-off places or automatic promotion spots, usually the sides that have success in League Two are the ones which start the season well and are able to continue that run throughout the season. Unfortunately for Cheltenham Town and Carlisle United, things have not exactly gone to plan so far this term. However, the sides have the opportunity to kick start their season when they face off this Tuesday.
Things have not exactly got off to the best of starts for Cheltenham Town as they have managed just one win, a 4-1 win at home to Scunthorpe United, in their first four competitive matches of the campaign. However, within that run there is a fairly obvious thing which stands out, all three negative results have come on the road whilst their best performance of the season to date came whilst the Robins were playing in front of their own fans.
It is not as if things have been much easier for the visitors, Carlisle United. Although they managed to get their campaign off in the best possible manner following a 2-1 win over Crawley Town, they soon proved to be inconsistent at best as they have gone from win to loss in each of their four competitive fixtures so far. The Cumbrians will know full well what they have to do if they are to get back on track and it is there for all to see as the visitors have conceded seven times this season, which works out at just short of two goals per game. Fortunately, they do have qualities up top and should not be ruled out against any opposition in the league.
The visitors may be strong up front, but they are seemingly incapable at keeping the ball out at the other end. When you factor in that Cheltenham have been very strong in recent years on home soil, then we think the hosts should be able to get the win. However, with a recent head to head record which heavily favours the visitors, taking the cautious step of adding the ‘Draw – No Bet’ clause seems like the wise thing to do.
