Cheltenham vs Leyton Orient Predictions
- Cheltenham have scored in 93% of their home matches.
- 65% of Cheltenham’s matches have finished with under 2.5 goals scored.
- Leyton Orient have failed to score in 38% of their away matches.
A difficult place to visit
Cheltenham Town go into this match pretty pleased with how things have been going this season so far as they enter this match having claimed 51 points from their 31 games so far and are well in the running to be challenging for promotion come the end of the campaign.
Much of this success has come courtesy of their defensive stability and with just 25 goals conceded so far, they top the league in terms of fewest goals conceded. Although they typically play a more expansive game on home soil, they still maintain the same defensive steel on their own patch and have only conceded more than once in four of their home matches this season.
Orient looking to upset the odds
The latest side to travel to Whaddon Road is a Leyton Orient side who have been in pretty decent form in recent weeks. The O’s have had plenty of ups and downs already this season, but they have mixed it with the better sides in the division and have won three of their last five league matches and climbed to 17th place in League Two.
However, there are still concerns about their ability to keep the opposition at bay as they have conceded 50 times already this season, a record which is the joint 19th worst in League 2. This, combined with the fact that they have conceded in 81% of their away matches this term suggests that they could be in for a difficult afternoon.
Goals may prove hard to come by
Whilst backing a home win is a tempting bet to make, we think that the recent improvement shown by the visitors means it looks to be more risky than some of the other options. The option we are taking is to back there to be less than 2.5 goals scored as, with the hosts boasting the best defensive record in the division and also likely to be wary of the visitors improvements, they will likely look to keep things tight.
In terms of a correct score tip, we are going with a home win but are maintaining our stance that it will be a close game. The hosts have scored in 93% of their home matches and, as already highlighted, have an excellent defensive record. Meanwhile, the visitors have failed to score in over a third of their away matches and have lost to nil just as often. With this in mind, backing a 1-0 home win looks to be the way to go.
