Chievo vs Bologna Predictions
Chievo are seventh after a 0-0 draw with Empoli last weekend, but they’ve dropped a few points of late. That’s brought an end to their early season momentum, which saw them challenging for Europe. Can Italy’s surprise package claim a victory over Bologna and start another strong run of form?
Bologna picked up a 1-1 draw with rivals Sassuolo on Sunday, and that should give them a slight boost. They’re sat in mid-table, without a win in four, so the visitors really need something to pick them up this week. They have the second worst away record in Serie A, so it’s hard to see how they can shock the side who are just a point shy of the Europa League places.
Bologna do have a strong scoring record on the road, they’re just struggling to win games. They’ve found the net in every game on their travels, averaging 1.11 goals a match in total. Their main problem is that they concede 2.5 goals across their away games, which explains why their away record is so poor. They haven’t won on the road in their last 11 league games.
Bologna have struck early away from home, with 75% of their goals coming in the first half. They’ve conceded 60% of their goals away in the second half. That could cause Chievo a problem, as they have scored 80% of their goals this season after half-time. That makes the away side look like fantastic value to be ahead at the break. Bologna are 10/3 with bet365 to be ahead after 45 minutes, which seems like a big price based on their form.
However, it’s easy to see Chievo coming out on top in this game. They’re having a strong season so far, and that’s backed up by their home record. They had two wins and a draw here, but they took on Serie A’s most in form side, AC Milan. They’ve scored in every match here, averaging 1.5 a game and conceding just over a goal. They have beaten some strong sides here, including Inter Milan and Sassuolo.
This seems like a great chance for them to put the Milan result behind them, and they can do that by seeing off Bologna. We’re backing the hosts to get back to winning ways in front of their own fans. They’re priced at 11/10 for the win, and we’re backing them to continue La Rossa’s terrible away record.
