Clermont to make this a battle

Midtable Clermont will be hoping to keep their excellent run of form going here after starting 2023 by going unbeaten in five Ligue 1 matches. They’re 12 points away from the relegation places but they can’t afford to think the job is done and will need to keep their concentration against Monaco. The hosts have been consistent scorers at home this term having netted in seven of their 10 matches at the Stade Gabriel Montpied, although they have drawn blanks in two of their most recent three home games.

The visitors are chasing down the top three and currently sit just five points adrift of second place Marseille. They have been excellent on the road so far this season, winning six of their 10 away matches and suffering just a single loss, which came against Lille, losing 4-3. No Ligue 1 outfit has scored the opening goal more often than Monaco this season and they’ll feel if they can get off to a fast start, they will put themselves in good stead to secure another three points.

Goals at both ends looks to be inevitable

Make no bones about it, this one will be competitive and given the attacking nature of both teams, goals can be expected. We do think that Monaco could take the win here, but we like the look of both teams finding their way onto the scoresheet.
