Cliftonville vs FK Auda Predictions
- Cliftonville have lost eight of their last ten European ties
- FK Auda won both matches in the previous round
- Both teams have scored in ten of Cliftonville’s last 12 games in all competitions
Hosts up against it
Cliftonville have a poor recent record in Europe and they will look to overcome that as they host Latvian side FK Auda in the first leg of their Conference League qualifier on Wednesday.
The Northern Irish side have lost eight of their last ten European games and face a tough test against a visiting side that look progressive and got the better of B36 Torshavn home and away in the previous round.
FK Auda have won the Latvian Cup in recent years and finished third in the Latvian top flight last term, although they are languishing in mid-table this time around.
Being halfway through their domestic season could give them an advantage however, with Cliftonville still likely to be rusty despite playing plenty of preseason friendlies.
The home side lifted the Irish Cup last season and finished third in the league, although the fact that all of the other five Northern Irish teams to qualify for Europe have already lost continental ties this term.
Larne, who topped the league last season, were beaten 7-0 on aggregate by Auda’s fellow Latvian side Rigas FS.
This may be a similar story unfortunately and Auda are fancied to set themselves up for progression by securing a victory over their hosts in the first leg.
However the hosts can get on the scoresheet, both teams have scored in ten of their last 12 in all competitions so side with a 2-1 win for the visitors.
