Borussia Dortmund to Win

Reason for tip

Club Brugge did not qualify for the Champions League last season and face a Borussia Dortmund side that made it all the way to the final, while the German side have started this season with three wins from four in all competitions and beat Club Brugge home and away the last time they met in 2020.

Borussia Dortmund 2-0

Reason for tip

Club Brugge have failed to score in four of their last five Champions League games and lost their last home match in this competition by a 2-0 scoreline, while Borussia Dortmund have kept two clean sheets in three league assignments this term and beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in their league opener.

Club Brugge vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions

  • Borussia Dortmund made it to the Champions League final last season.
  • Club Brugge have lost three and drawn two of their last five games in this competition.

Belgians return to Champions League

Club Brugge return to the Champions League after a year hiatus but they could be in for a rude awakening as they host Borussia Dortmund in their opener.

The German visitors made it all the way to the Champions League final last season and beat the likes of Newcastle, PSG, AC Milan, PSV, and Atletico Madrid en route to Wembley, and they have started the new campaign well.

BVB target repeat of last season

Dortmund have won three and drawn one of their four competitive games, keeping two clean sheets in three league assignments. They beat Club Brugge without conceding in both meetings when these sides last met in the 2020/21 group stages, so I’m backing them to win again.

Another clean sheet could be on the cards, too. Dortmund beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in their Bundesliga opener and Club Brugge’s last home game in this competition was a 2-0 defeat to Benfica, so that looks a solid correct score prediction.
