Club Brugge vs Copenhagen Predictions

Club Brugge are in a bit of a crisis by their standards at the moment. They are surprisingly not leading the way in the Belgian First Division and sit behind Zulte-Waragem after a patchy opening half to the season.

In Europe things are going a lot worse, with their five Champions League group games so far all ending in defeat. They have managed just two goals and conceded 12 at the other end and already find themselves out of all European competitions. With a big match away to Anderlecht coming up at the weekend they could well rest a few players on Wednesday.

Club Brugge did manage a win at home to KV Oostende on Saturday, making it three wins, two draws, and three defeats in their last eight outings in all competitions. At home they have done a lot better domestically, but in Europa they have lost deservedly to both Leicester and Porto.

Copenhagen managed an impressive 4-0 hammering of Club Brugge in the home fixture in September, and unlike their opponents the Danish champions actually have something to fight for. They are currently 3rd in the group but are just two points adrift of Porto in 2nd. Copenhagen hold the advantage in terms of head to head results as well, so a win over Club Brugge and Porto failing to beat Leicester would see them book a place in the Champions League knockout stages.

The visitors are in excellent form as well. They beat Randers at the weekend to make it eight wins and two draws from their last ten outings in all competitions. They have only lost one game all season and find themselves a huge 12 points clear at the top of the Danish Superliga.

Much of Copenhagen’s success can be traced back to their in form attackers. Andreas Cornelius leads the way with 12 goals in all competitions this season, whilst Thomas Delaney and Federico Santander have eight and nine respectively. Cornelius has been the main driving force though, so he looks the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

This looks like Copenhagen’s game to lose. Club Brugge have nothing left to play for and have looked wholly out of depth in the Champions League this season, whilst Copenhagen know that a win is likely to be enough to secure them qualification. The visitors are also in excellent form, so backing them to win at 11/10 looks a solid option. I’m also going for a 2-1 correct score predictions at 15/2.
