Tip Reasoning
Wycombe are perhaps showing the scars of a long hard season after good runs in both the FA Cup and the Checkatrade Trophy and we are expecting yet more heartache when they make the trip to Colchester on Tuesday night. Given the hosts are in pretty poor form themselves we are adding a bit of a safety net, so for our tip we are backing Colchester to win either half at 4/6 with bet365. For our correct score tip we think that both sides will once again prove to have a leaky defence and we are backing a 3-1 home win at 18/1 with the same site.
Back to back defeats means that Colchester have to win on Tuesday night to go level on points with Mansfield in the last of the play-off places. Colchester boss John McGreal knows his side play with plenty of attacking flair but with no clean sheet in their previous seven games, he knows he will have to address their defensive frailties if they are to achieve their aim of getting into the play-offs come the end of the season.
It’s an old cliche but things change very quickly in football. Just a few weeks ago Wycombe were one of the form sides in the country and were within minutes of a glorious cup upset when they led Tottenham going into the final stages of their FA Cup tie. Fast forward a few weeks and the club looks like it’s in free fall. They have lost their last four in the league and six of their last seven in all competitions. With at least two goals conceded in each of those defeats, the onus has been on a strike force that has hardly been prolific this season to bail the team out. Gareth Ainsworth’s men will still have hopes of reaching the play-offs, but to do so they will have to fix the leaky defence that served them so well earlier in the season .
