Colo Colo vs Botafogo Predictions
Two first half goals, one of which was an own goal, finished last week’s first leg of this Copa Libertadores qualification match off early on as Botafogo took a commanding two goal lead. They tried to sit back and keep a clean sheet in the second half, and whilst they failed to do that, they do still come into the away leg with a 2-1 aggregate lead to defend.
Colo Colo did manage to bounce back at the weekend as they thrashed fellow Libertadores entrants Union Espanola 3-0 away from home, and the Chilean giants have now won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions. The defeat last week means they have lost just two of their last 19 matches in all competitions, which ultimately led them to the runners up spot in the Chilean Primera Division.
Their overall form may be impressive, but at home it gets even better. They are unbeaten since August on home soil and have won nine of their 11 matches there since then. They have scored at least two goals in nine of these games and have netted three or more in seven of them.
Botafogo also managed a weekend win as they faced off at home against Macae, winning that match 2-1 to follow on perfectly from their midweek success. They have only won three of their last ten games in all competitions though, losing three and drawing four.
Away from home it’s a similar story for the Brazilians. They have won more on the road but fall to defeat more often too. They have won three, drawn one, and lost four of their last eight away days, failing to score on five occasions in the process.
Botafogo are by no means a defensively poor side, but they conceded two goals in their first away day of this season and looked to be under quite a lot of pressure last week at home against Colo Colo. Considering the hosts incredible attacking record in front of their own fans, backing Colo Colo Over 1.5 Team Goals at 4/5 looks a good choice here, and I’m also going for a 2-0 win for the hosts at 13/2 for my correct score predictions.
