Despite their top-half position in the Bundesliga, a run of three straight competitive defeats for Cologne with eight goals conceded indicates that the reality of competing on both the European and domestic front could be starting to take its toll on the side.

Cologne’s top-two goal contributors in league action will miss this game with Florian Kainz (four goals, four assists) and Dejan Ljubicic (three goals) being stricken with injury. That certainly won’t help their cause, especially as they’ve now only scored twice in the last five hours of play.
