Colombia vs Paraguay Predictions

Colombia in contention

Despite a slump in form and a reasonably poor qualifying campaign so far, Colombia are fifth in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying group and hold the inter-confederation play-off position.

However, if they can manage to snap a four-game winless run, Los Cafeteros could potentially climb above Chile with whom they are level on 16 points and into the automatic qualifying places.

Colombia are unbeaten through their last four qualifiers at home but a 1-0 defeat to Brazil on Friday means they have won just three of their 13 qualifying games thus far.

Scoring has been a real issue for the hosts as they have failed to score in any of their last four games, drawing 0-0 three times last month before their loss to Brazil.

Paraguay toothless in attack

Three straight defeats have set Paraguay back in their quest to reach their first World Cup since 2010. A 1-0 loss to Chile last week leaves Los Guaranies in 8th place, four points off Colombia.

Paraguay have failed to win any of their last four qualifiers and haven’t even scored a goal since their 2-1 win over bottom of the table Venezuela back in September.

They have scored just nine goals in 13 qualifiers and we could be set for a drab affair here with under 2.5 goals the market to target. These sides played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture but Colombia can pinch this meeting 1-0 with home advantage.
