Colorado Rapids vs Sporting Kansas City Betting Tips & Predictions

Colorado Rapids, after finishing bottom of the MLS Western Conference last season, looked to be in for another difficult season when they lost 1-0 in their opener against San Jose Earthquakes.

However, since then they have shown a remarkable improvement over last season. They beat LA Galaxy the weekend after, and are still the only team to do so this season, and have since lost just one of their eight outings in the MLS.

Four of their last five matches have ended in victory for Colorado Rapids and they have dropped just two points during this unbeaten run, a record which puts them at the summit of the MLS Western Conference. LA Galaxy are only two points adrift behind them though and have a game in hand, so they need to keep their run going to remain at the top of the table.

Sporting Kansas City finished just inside the playoff positions last season and they kickstarted the new campaign with consecutive wins against Canadian outfits Seattle Sounders, Whitecaps, and Toronto FC.

It started to fall apart when they lost to Real Salt Lake though. They bounced back with a win against New York Red Bulls, but they haven’t won since. This puts their winless streak at six matches after their 2-0 loss to Houston Dynamo this weekend, and they have picked up just two points from a possible 18 since their last victory.

Sporting Kansas City occupy 6th position again at this point in time, but all but one team in the division have at least one game in hand on them, and a defeat on Thursday could see them drop as low as 9th.

I’m expecting a defeat as well. Colorado Rapids have won all five of their home games this season and are facing a Sporting Kansas City side who have lost three of their last four away days and won none. This makes odds of 19/20 for a Colorado Rapids win look very good value, and I’m going for that along with a 2-0 correct score prediction at 15/2.
