Copenhagen vs Club Brugge Predictions
Copenhagen are going well in the opening stages of the Danish Superliga season, but there are a few issues to iron out. They have only managed three wins in their last eight matches in all competitions, a run which has allowed Brondby to gain some ground on them.
Their Champions League campaign has been largely built around their home form though. They beat Crusaders 9-0 on aggregate in their first qualifying round clash, and then beat Astra and APOEL to make it to the group stages. Both of these games saw them draw the away leg but win the home match though, so we know full well where the majority of Copenhagen’s points will come from in this group stage campaign.
The hosts did manage a very impressive 1-1 draw at Porto in their Champions League group opener, and since then they have won two and drawn one of their three Superliga matches to make for a rather respectable run of form. They are still unbeaten since the end of last season in all competitions as well.
Club Brugge endured a very difficult start to their campaign. They won the Belgian Super Cup against Standard Liege, but they then lost four, drew one, and won two of their seven following games to leave them in a very poor position in the table.
Their most recent defeat was a 3-0 thrashing at home to Leicester in their Champions League opener, but to be fair to them that seems to have kick-started their season. They have since won three games on the trot, scoring three goals in each and pushing themselves up to 7th in the First Division A table.
Only one of these victories has been on the road though, and away from home Club Brugge have lost three of their five matches in all competitions. Copenhagen have won eight of their nine home games in all competitions this season as well, so they will feel confident heading into Tuesday’s match.
This excellent form on home turf gives Copenhagen the edge in my opinion, and odds of 4/5 for them to pick up three points on Tuesday look pretty good value to me. I’m backing that along with a 2-0 correct score prediction at 7/1.
