Livingston 3-2

Reason for tip

These two sides are better going forward than they are defensively and, after Livingston won 2-1 when they met in last season’s Scottish League Cup, an even higher scoring victory could be on the cards for the visitors this midweek.

Cove Rangers vs Livingston Predictions

  • Cove Rangers are the leading scorers in this season’s Scottish League Cup
  • A total of 12 goals have been scored in Cove’s two matches this season
  • Livingston are averaging two-goals-per-game in the Scottish League Cup this term

Entertaining contest on the cards at Balmoral

Cove Rangers have been the entertainers in this season’s Scottish League Cup, as they have scored eight goals across their two matches – more than any other team in the competition -, although they have also conceded four times.

Paul Hartley’s side followed up a 5-2 home success over Clyde with a 3-2 victory on the road at Brechin, although both those sides sit below them in the league pyramid and they should face a much sterner test when Premiership Livingston come to town.

Livi have also been amongst the goals in this season’s competition, netting three against Brechin and one in their penalty shootout loss to Hamilton last time out.

Previous meeting also points to goals

These two sides met in last season’s Scottish League Cup at Balmoral Stadium and it was Livingston that prevailed in a match where both teams found the back of the net, with the Premiership outfit claiming a 2-1 success.

A similar outcome could be on the cards on Tuesday, as Cove have only kept one clean-sheet across their last 15 competitive matches, while they have only failed to score themselves in one of their previous seven.

It is a similar story for Livingston, who have registered just one clean-sheet in their last eight, but David Martindale will be hoping his side can claim a victory on Tuesday that would keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.
