Reason for tip

Leicester drew 2-2 at Oxford in their last Championship assignment, while the Foxes also scored twice in each of their last two outings at the King Power Stadium. Leicester City vs Coventry Predictions

  • Coventry’s unbeaten record is still intact after five games of the new Championship season.
  • Leicester have failed to win three of their last five matches in league and cup.
  • Coventry’s Championship fixtures have been averaging 4.40 goals per game this term.

Coventry can avoid defeat at Leicester

Promotion hopefuls Leicester have been averaging 2.0 points per game under new manager Martí Cifuentes since their relegation back to the Championship, though the Foxes have flattered to deceive at times.

Leicester pocketed seven points from their last three league fixtures against Charlton (1-0), Birmingham (2-0) and Oxford (2-2), though they lost the expected goals battle on each occasion and conceded a mammoth 50 shots combined in the same games.

Coventry meanwhile, are one of only three teams in the Championship with an intact unbeaten record after five matches and alongside out-scoring every other team in the division so far (15 goals), Frank Lampard’s side rank first for both average shots (20.00) and shots on target per game (6.20).

Leading marksman Haji Wright (five goals) has been in threatening early-season form for Coventry, though the American has a strong supporting cast in Victor Torp, Jack Rudoni, Ephron Mason-Clark and Brandon Thomas-Asante.

Coventry were held to a 1-1 draw by Norwich last time out, though they created 3.60 in expected goals and peppered the Canaries with 28 shots, and the Sky Blues were unfortunate to finish with a point.

With Leicester failing to convince and Coventry purring in attack, we’re backing the visitors in the double chance market in Saturday’s M69 Derby, while a 2-2 draw is of interest in the correct score stakes.

Leicester, who drew 2-2 with Oxford in their last assignment, have also scored twice in each of their first two home league fixtures of the season, while Coventry’s Championship matches have been averaging 4.40 goals per game.
