Coventry and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

The Sky Blues fell to a shock 3-0 loss to Preston on Friday and have found clean sheets hard to come by, so they could concede against their non-league visitors who have nothing to lose

Coventry 4-1

Reason for tip

There have been plenty of goals in Coventry’s match this season and they could take over if the Stones grab a goal. City can demonstrate that they are worthy of a Championship playoff place by claiming a 4-1 win

Coventry vs Maidstone United Predictions

  • Coventry’s three FA Cup games this season have featured 15 goals
  • There have been at least three goals in six of Maidstone’s last eight away matches
  • City have kept one clean sheet in their last 13 matches

Coventry could be nervy in last-16 clash

Coventry fans of a certain age will not need reminding that they suffered a 2-1 defeat to non-league Sutton United in 1989 and Mark Robins’s team will be desperate to avoid a similar embarrassment when they entertain Maidstone form the National League South in the FA Cup fifth round on Monday.

Nerves may be jangling after the Sky Blues were beaten 3-0 at home by Preston on Friday as their visitors look to claim another Championship scalp after their 2-1 victory at promotion-chasing Ipswich in the last round.

It will plainly be tough but the non-league outfit should be more than hopeful that they can find the net on their visit to the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Their hosts have had some defensive issues and just one clean sheet in their last 13 games means they are far from impregnable, especially after the problems they suffered against North End.

Visitors’ recent away form is poor

While they may score, the Kent side are up against it and would have liked a few more confidence-boosting away performances before their trip to the Midlands.

Their win at Portman Road has been the only occasion in their last eight away games that they have claimed a victory.

The occasion should mean that plays little relevance and a positive attitude could be rewarded with a goal even if Coventry’s class comes to the fore eventually, and perhaps a 4-1 home win may be of interest to those looking for a correct-score interest.
