Cremonese vs Lecce Predictions
- Both teams have scored in each of the last five games played by Cremonese.
- Lecce, meanwhile, have seen both sides net in five of their last eight Serie A fixtures.
- Only Salernitana (38) have conceded more goals in the Italian top-flight than Cremonese’s 35 this season.
- Cremonese and Lecce drew 1-1 when they last met in October.
Cremonese bid to preserve Coppa magic
Cremonese have found the magic of the cup to be a real relief this season, stunning Napoli and Roma in successive Coppa Italia ties to reach the semi-finals for just the second time. In the league, however, Davide Ballardini’s men are yet to post a single victory all campaign, though they may hope Saturday could be the day. Lecce are experiencing a downturn after a six-game unbeaten run, and a competitive affair is likely.
Cremonese were outstanding in their 2-1 victory at Roma in midweek, and their improvement since Ballardini took charge on January 15 is clear to see. They have only been beaten by Inter in their four matches under him, and have now seen both teams net in five successive games – benefitting from an attacking upturn after failing to net in their previous four outings. Cremonese managed a 1-1 draw on the road at Lecce earlier this season, and they should be competitive once again here.
Lecce, meanwhile, have suffered disappointing reverses against Verona and Salernitana to render a six-game unbeaten run either side of the World Cup a distant memory. Boss Marco Baroni has a reputation for instilling defensive organisation, but both teams have scored in five of their last eight games. Lecce have clearly improved going forward of late, however, winning the expected goals (xG) battle in five successive matches.
Both teams to net in crucial clash for hosts
With enough doubts existing over both sides to turn punters away from the result markets, backing both teams to score looks a prudent play for Saturday’s game as Cremonese and Lecce attempt to turn their form around.
Meanwhile, a repeat of October’s 1-1 stalemate between the sides could represent a solid correct score prediction – the duo have managed a joint-high eight draws each in Serie A this campaign.
