      Faroe Islands +3

      Reason for tip

Croatia have been near-perfect in qualifying but an improving Faroe Islands should give them a game in Rijeka. The Faroes have won four of their last five games, beating Czech Republic last time, and are worth backing with a three-goal headstart given they have gone 15 games without losing by more than one strike, let alone two.

      3/4odds when tipped

      Croatia 2-0

      Reason for tip

The Faroe Islands are expected to keep things close, just as they did when narrowly losing the reverse fixture 1-0, but finding the net could prove difficult once again. Croatia have conceded just one goal in qualifying and none in their last four games. The Blazers may not blow the Faroes away but another clean sheet is on the cards.

      Croatia vs Faroe Islands Predictions

      • Croatia are unbeaten in qualifying, winning five of their six games
      • The Faroe Islands have won four of their last five matches
      • The Faroes have gone 15 games without losing by more than one goal

Croatia could have to work hard for three points

The Faroe Islands have been one of the stories of qualifying, picking up 12 points in a tricky section despite being ranked 127th in the world, but their efforts look set to be in vain.

To reach the playoffs, the Faroes must earn at least a point against 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Croatia and hope for a slip-up from the Czech Republic against minnows Gibraltar.

Normally, both sides of that scenario would seem impossible. However, the Faroes have won four of their last five games, beating the Czechs 2-1 last time, suggesting they can give the Croats a real game in Rijeka.

Faroes fancied to keep things tight

A point for the hosts would see them land top spot with a game to spare but while their price of 1-10 would suggest they will do just that by securing a win with minimal fuss, things may not be that simple for the Blazers.

The Faroe Islands will not stop fighting until their fate is cemented and they should keep things close, just as they did in the reverse fixture when losing only 1-0.

The Faroes have gone 15 games without losing by more than one goal, so a slightly odds-on price to give an in-form side a +3 handicap looks extremely generous.
