Croatia vs Turkey Predictions
- Both teams have scored in three of Croatia’s last five home matches
- Both teams have scored in eight of Turkiye’s last 10 away games
- Kerem Akturkoglu has scored four goals in his eight club appearances and came close to scoring twice in Turkey’s home defeat to Croatia
Don’t bank on stalemate when Turkey are around
The situation in Group D is such that many will be expecting leaders Croatia and Turkey, who are level on points having played a game more, to play out a cagey draw in Zagreb on Thursday.
A stalemate between the two teams most likely to make it to Euro 2024 cannot be ruled out, but Turkey have enough attacking talent and defensive frailty to make this very interesting.
Stefan Kuntz’s outfit will still be smarting from Croatia’s 2-0 win in Bursa earlier this year when they gifted the visitors two goals with sloppy defending and appeared to be denied clear penalty claims.
Akturkoglu is always a threat
Zlatko Dalic is a bit short up front for this game after Andrej Karamaric withdrew because of injury and Marko Levaja called time on his international career.
But they usually get goals from midfielders chipping in and can ensure that both teams find the back of the net on the night. Six of the last ten meetings between these nations have finished all square, but only one was goalless.
Therefore, our preference is to take a 1-1 in correct score betting with the ever-dangerous Kerem Akturkoglu on the scoresheet for the Turks.
