Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Predictions
Crystal Palace began their Premier League season with a somewhat fortuitous victory over the newly promoted Norwich City, who were unfortunate to have a goal disallowed that could have proved crucial.
They followed this up with a loss to Arsenal, but fought hard against the defeat. In all honesty they just weren’t good enough to beat the Gunners, but their performance had a lot of merit to it.
This is a fairly good start for the team who had a dreadful first half to the season last year. Fortunately for them, Alan Pardew saved them from relegation, and in the end they ended up in a respectable mid-table position.
Yohann Cabaye and Connor Wickham look like they could form a really good partnership this season, with the former providing excellent balls to the frontman, who was unfortunate to hit the post against Arsenal.
Aston Villa may not have reached the exciting times they enjoyed at the end of last season yet, but they have invested heavily in the rebuilding job after Benteke and Delph left, and they have 3 points to show for their efforts.
They lost to Manchester United though, with both teams looking fairly drab and lacking in fitness at this early stage to the season.
These two sides are fairly well matched, both in squad talent and historic results. They have both won 2 of their last 6 meetings, with the other 2 matches ending in draws.
But Crystal Palace have looked the more impressive side so far this season, and if they can keep possession like Manchester United did on Friday then it’s more than likely that Villa will wear themselves out again.
For this reason, we think Crystal Palace will secure the 3 points on Saturday, and odds of 5/6 for this outcome look pretty good value to us. Odds of 8/1 for a 2-0 win for them look very attractive as well.
