Czech Republic vs Norway Predictions

Czech Republic endured a miserable time in France in the summer as they picked up just one point from their three group games, with their journey ending against Turkey in a tragically bad performance that showed next to no desire to get the win.

Their World Cup qualifying campaign hasn’t showed much more promise either. They have played out goalless draws with Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan either side of a 3-0 loss in Germany to leave them winless after three games. This puts them second from bottom in the group, only ahead of San Marino and already seven points adrift of leaders Germany and five off the surprisingly in form Azerbaijan.

Czech Republic’s home form hasn’t good for a long time though. They have won just three of their last eight home games, losing three and drawing the last two. Their victories have come against the likes of an out of form Serbia, minnows Malta, and Armenia. In their five other performances against more formidable opponents they have managed just one goal.

Norway started their World Cup qualifying campaign in predictable fashion as Germany beat them 3-0, but they followed that with a much more disappointing 1-0 loss in Azerbaijan. Unlike Czech Republic they have managed to bounce back with a 4-1 thrashing of San Marino, but a win against a team of this standard isn’t much to brag about. What’s even worse is the fact they were tied at 1-1 until the final 15 minutes against a side who had scored just one away goal in the last 13 years.

Away from home Norway have managed three wins in their last 14 attempts, and they’ve scored just four goals in their last six games on the road. A telling statistic in this sense is the fact that their most prolific striker has managed one goal every 4.33 matches. Not exactly setting the world alight.

With both of these sides struggling massively for goals at the moment I think this will be a low scoring affair. Czech Republic have failed to score in four of their last eight home games and have played out two goalless draws at home since World Cup qualifying began. Norway have failed to score in three of their last four away from home, so odds of 4/6 for Both Teams Not to Score look good value. I’m going for a 0-0 correct score prediction at 13/2 as well.
