Both teams destined to net in Darmstadt

Neither of these sides have inspired much confidence in the Bundesliga this season, with Darmstadt sat 15th on nine points and Cologne three points worse off and propping up the table, suggesting a close match could unfold at Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor on Friday.

Both teams have taken five points from their last 18 available and look closely matched on the balance of things, which could lead to goals at either end.

Cologne have had the better of Darmstadt in recent times, winning four of their last six meetings, but as the side lower in the table this time around that record may be under threat.

Cologne are just as inconsistent as their hosts however, beating Borussia Monchengladbach but failing to win any of their six away games, so picking a result of this tie is no easy task.

But, given that the hosts have conceded ten times in their last four Bundesliga matches and the visitors have conceded just once less in the same number of games, goals at both ends looks a safe bet in this fixture.
