Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both sides have found the net in three of the last five meetings between these sides and the same looks set to occur on Friday. Neither side has been strong defensively this season, with no team in the Bundesliga conceding more than Darmstadt’s 33 in 12 games, and both clubs should be expected to net in this fixture.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

With both sides unlikely to keep a clean sheet, 1-1 appeals in the correct score market. There is little to split these sides, with Darmstadt sitting higher in the table but Cologne holding a better record in recent meetings between the teams, suggesting a draw is likely on Friday.

SV Darmstadt vs Cologne Predictions

  • Cologne have won four of the last six meetings between these sides
  • Darmstadt are on a run of two draws in a row
  • Cologne are yet to win an away match in the Bundesliga this season

Both teams destined to net in Darmstadt

Neither of these sides have inspired much confidence in the Bundesliga this season, with Darmstadt sat 15th on nine points and Cologne three points worse off and propping up the table, suggesting a close match could unfold at Merck-Stadion am Böllenfalltor on Friday.

Both teams have taken five points from their last 18 available and look closely matched on the balance of things, which could lead to goals at either end.

There have been goals for both teams in five of Darmstadt’s last six Bundesliga home matches and Cologne, who have scored in three of their last five road games, could pinch a goal on Friday.

Little to split the sides

Cologne have had the better of Darmstadt in recent times, winning four of their last six meetings, but as the side lower in the table this time around that record may be under threat.

The hosts have drawn with fellow strugglers Mainz and top-half side Freiburg in their past two matches showing their ability to grind out results.

However, they were humiliated by Bayern Munich not long ago, losing 8-0 in a match which saw Harry Kane score from the halfway line, highlighting their form is not fault-proof.

Cologne are just as inconsistent as their hosts however, beating Borussia Monchengladbach but failing to win any of their six away games, so picking a result of this tie is no easy task.

But, given that the hosts have conceded ten times in their last four Bundesliga matches and the visitors have conceded just once less in the same number of games, goals at both ends looks a safe bet in this fixture.
