Tip Reasoning

  • Denmark have been in brilliant form recently, scoring 12 goals without reply in their last four games.
  • Austria have scored eight and conceded seven goals in four away World Cup qualifiers for Qatar 2022.

Denmark are dynamite at the moment

Denmark moved a step closer to qualification on Saturday with their 5-0 thrashing of Moldova and can book their plane tickets to Qatar if they can repeat that result against Austria. The Danes remain perfect in Group F and will want it to stay that way – particularly in front of expectant fans at their Parken home.

Austria, now in fourth place, arrive in Copenhagen on the back of a 2-0 win in the Faroe Islands.Inconsistent away form has cost them a chance of an automatic berth, although it was the 4-0 home humbling to Denmark which was the real low point of their campaign so far.

Franco Foda’s side are brittle – a characteristic that saw their Euro 2020 Finals run ended when Italy scored two extra-time goals in the space of a few minutes – and something similar happened that day in Vienna. That nature reared its head again in Israel recently when they flopped 5-2, so it really would take quite a leap of faith to support them here.

Goals a byproduct 0f ‘must-win’ game

Goals could well be a byproduct of Austria’s need to win this game because Denmark won’t sit back and defend either, so it could be quite eventful.

Five of Denmark’s six Euro 2020 Finals matches featured at least three goals – the shocking circumstances behind the one that didn’t mean we aren’t going to be put off an ‘overs’ bet.

But we simply have to respect Denmark’s form and Austria’s fragility by including a home win aspect to the recommendation. The 3-1 correct score prediction is based on Austria’s recent run of scoring on the road, but their defence will almost certainly concede some good chances to the slick Danes.
