Deportivo La Coruna vs Valencia Betting Tips

They are without a win in 9 league matches now and the last 6 of those have been under Gary Neville so the Englishman is already under pressure. A 1-1 draw at home to Las Palmas in the Copa Del Rey in midweek did little to ease that, especially after a woeful defensive display last Sunday when they were fortunate to draw 2-2 at home to struggling Deportivo La Coruna.

They do at least have fond memories of their last trip to Galicia when they beat Celta Vigo 5-1 in November for their most recent league win. Valencia now find themselves in the bottom half and a staggering 16 points off the top four that seemed within reach when Neville arrived.

Given they finished 4th last season and spent well in excess of 100million Euros in the summer it is simply not good enough and looks especially bad when comparing their showing with that of this weekend’s opponents Deportivo, who didn’t spent anything like that amount of money.

Depor are 4 points better off in 8th place but are without a win in 6 in all competitions now. They’ve been a little unfortunate though in some of their recent matches and probably didn’t deserve to lose 2-1 to Villarreal and were leading for long periods of their 1-1 draw at Real Sociedad last weekend.

Valencia have tried to play more open football under Neville but they’ve been very poor at the back at times and have let in 2 or more goals in 4 of their last 5 league matches. Depor have scored 2 or more in 4 of their last 7 at home and have only failed to score in 1 of their last 13 at the Riazor in La Liga. Therefore backing Depor to score 2 or more goals at 5/4 looks a decent bet here.

Valencia have lost 6 of their last 8 league away games and this could be another one so consider backing the hosts to win 2-1 at 8/1.
