Dinamo Zagreb vs Salzburg Predictions
- Salzburg have won two and drawn one of their last three visits to Dinamo Zagreb.
- Both teams will be fresh for the game after resting players at the weekend.
- Dinamo Zagreb were criticised for an overly-defensive approach in last week’s 1-0 defeat.
Croatian champions need to be more positive
A pivotal game in Group E of the Champions League takes place in Zagreb on Tuesday where Dinamo will need to open up against Red Bull Salzburg. The Croatian champions were criticised for being too passive and defensive in last week’s 1-0 loss in Austria – not least by their own striker Josip Drmic.
Dinamo had the greater share of possession but did little with it until after they had fallen behind to Noah Okafor’s penalty with Drmic, who came on as a substitute five minutes later, denied a stoppage-time equaliser by the linesman’s offside flag.
Coach Ante Cacic knows there will be no excuses this week as his side postponed their weekend game with Pula in order to be fully prepared for the return clash. Salzburg should also be fresh after making nine changes for their 3-2 weekend Bundesliga win.
Salzburg can follow-up last week’s win
It might be hard for the hosts to reverse the momentum here so soon after the first encounter and it’s worth noting that 11 of the 16 teams that won the first of these middle two group games in last season’s competition backed it up with another win.
Salzburg, who missed a couple of great chances to add to their tally last Wednesday, have also won two of their three previous trips to Stadion Maksimir. Vice captain Maximilian Wober, who was dropped to the bench last week, could return in place of left-back Andreas Ulmer, who is a doubt because of a thigh injury.
Taking the visitors in the draw no bet market seems a good plan here at around because Salzburg’s away record in this competition is not great, winning only two and drawing three of their last ten group stage contests. But Dinamo have lost six of their last ten group games at home and could come out second best in a more open affair this time, suggesting some value in a 2-1 away forecast.
