Dinamo Zagreb vs Skenderbeu Predictions
We are just days away from finding out the full line up of the Champions League proper for the coming season, and Skenderbeu could be a surprise addition if they manage to overcome their first leg deficit when they make the trip to Croatia.
Dinamo Zagreb beat the Albanian club 2-1 when they visited the minnows last week, but it wasn’t as cut and dry as they will have expected. They went 1-0 down in the first half and had to wait until the 66th minute before they got back into the game, it then took until the 93rd minute before they grabbed a winner.
They should have an easier time of things when the Albanians make the relatively short journey to Croatia, but they won’t be taking anything for granted after the first leg performance.
Form is definitely on the Dinamo Zagreb’s side though. They have gone a huge 42 matches without losing at the time of writing, with their last loss coming in November last year when they played Astra in the Europa League.
Skenderbeu aren’t in the same vein of form as their opponents. Their loss in midweek made it 3 losses in their last 5 matches in all competitions.
History isn’t on their side either. Skenderbeu have never qualified for the group stages of a continental competition, with the 2nd round of qualifying being the furthest they have ever made it in the Champions League.
Unsurprisingly, Dinamo Zagreb are huge favourites for this match in the bookies eyes, and I can’t say I blame them.
But there is some value to be found for this match. 3 of Zagreb’s last 4 games have ended with over 2.5 goals, whilst Skenderbeu have seen 3 or more goals fly in in 3 of their last games.
This makes odds of 7/10 for Over 2.5 Match Goals look like excellent value for money, and that’s what I’m backing on Tuesday.
