Djurgarden vs Elfsborg Predictions

Low-scoring stalemate on the cards

No Allsvenskan side has played more games with under 2.5 goals this season than Djurgardens, and there are unlikely to be many goals when they host Elfsborg at Tele2Arena on Saturday. There have been fewer than three goals in 11 of Djurgarden’s 15 outings this season.

Elfsborg are fourth in the league, six places and ten points above Djurgardens. The hosts sit tenth with five wins, four draws and six defeats, while Elfsborg have nine wins, two draws and four losses.

Djurgardens have been in patchy form recently, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six Allsvenskan games. They beat Degerfors 5-1 two weeks ago in their last home game, but Elfsborg were 2-1 winners over IFK Gothenburg last weekend and four of their last six away games have ended in victory.

Djurgardens lost 1-0 last weekend to a Varnamo side who had gone 15 Allsvenskan games without a win and the game kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals.

Both teams have been struggling to find the back of the net lately. Djurgardens have scored just 14 goals in 15 league games this season, while Elfsborg haven’t managed to score in three of their last four Allsvenskan outings.

Five of Djurgarden’s last six Allsvenskan games have stayed under 2.5 goals and there are unlikely to be many goals in this one.

Elfsborg have been impressive defensively away from home this season, conceding just six goals in seven games – an average of 0.86 goals per game.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet. 

Djurgarden have had three 1-1 draws in the Allsvenskan this season and Elfsborg have been in some low-scoring games of late.
