Djurgarden vs GIF Sundsvall Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Djurgarden are having a shocking time of things at the moment. Last season’s 6th place finishers are drastically out of form and could find themselves in an unlikely relegation battle if they don’t sort it out soon.

They have lost nine of their last 11 Sweden Allsvenskan matches. They did win the other two of these 11 games, but their position outside the drop zone is solely because of their three match winning streak right at the beginning of the domestic season.

Djurgarden’s 1-0 defeat at Jonkopings Sodra last Monday left them with just 15 points from their opening 14 matches, putting them in 13th position and just a point outside the relegation playoff position. Kalmar sit two points above them in 12th, whilst the automatic drop spots are seven points below them.

GIF Sundsvall aren’t in the best of form either, but they are at least a respectable distance from the relegation zone that they almost visited last season. They come into the halfway point in the Swedish domestic season in 8th position in the Allsvenskan, with the potential to move as high as 6th with a win on Monday. Alternatively, they could drop as low as 12th with a defeat.

Like their opponents, GIF Sundsvall’s points haul largely came at the beginning of the season. They have only managed one win in their last six Allsvenskan games, losing four and drawing the remaining one.

The visitors have managed to win two away games this season, drawing three of them and only losing two. However, Djurgarden’s form is a bit more respectable on home turf. They have won three and lost three of their six outings at the Tele2 Arena this season, but two of their last three have ended in defeat.

Considering Djurgarden are in such a shocking spell of form and have only managed to win 50% of their home games this season, and the fact that GIF Sundsvall have only lost two of their six away days, odds of 8/5 for a GIF Sundsvall Win or Draw Double Chance look incredibly good value. That’s what I’m backing for my main prediction, along with a 1-1 correct score prediction at 7/1.
