Doncaster vs Shrewsbury Predictions
- Doncaster have lost each of their last five games, conceding 2+ goals in each.
- Doncaster conceded ten goals across their last six home games.
- Shrewsbury have just one clean sheet across their last ten games.
- Eight of Shrewsbury’s last ten away games saw both teams score.
Doncaster’s downward spiral continues
Although Doncaster equalised in the final 20 minutes against Oxford last time out, the all too familiar occurrence of a Doncaster self-destruction saw them lose the game with mere minutes remaining to keep them at the foot of the League One table.
However, a return of three goals in the hosts’ last two games served to end a four-game scoring drought, so there are some signs of life amongst the Doncaster ranks.
While the hosts won just one of their last six home games, they netted seven goals during that time. As such, the evidence points to the hosts at least getting on the scoresheet.
Shrews desperate to avoid defeat
A mere six-points separates Doncaster from Shrewsbury’s tenuous position of safety. As such, the desperation may show in stages of this game as they desperately try to open up a gap between themselves and the looming drop-zone.
The visitors are now unbeaten in three of their last four games, albeit with one of the only two victories coming in FA Cup action. However, the confidence gained from that solid run and their superior league form suggests they will give another good account here.
All in all, I predict that both teams will score in what looks to be a tight encounter that could swing either way. For a small play, I would tentatively suggest a surprise 2-1 away win.
