Dundalk vs Shamrock Rovers Predictions
- Dundalk have lost only one of their last 21 home league games
- Shamrock Rovers have failed to win any of their opening six matches
- Both teams have scored in five of Shamrock’s six league games
Shamrock’s early-season struggles may continue
Shamrock Rovers have won the League of Ireland in each of the last three seasons but the champions have made a miserable start to their title defence, failing to win any of their opening five games.
Dundalk, meanwhile, have hit the ground running, taking 11 points from their opening six games, with a 2-1 defeat at table-topping Bohemians the only blot on their copybook.
Despite Shamrock’s success last season, Rovers still failed to win on both league trips to Dundalk, first being held to a 0-0 draw before suffering a 1-0 defeat.
And given their early-season struggles, it’s tough to give them too much hope at Dundalk.
Shamrock Rovers were held to a 2-2 draw at home to second-bottom St Patrick’s Athletic last time out and they have also shared the spoils in all three away trips this season.
However, this is by some way their toughest away league match to date and Dundalk will be in confident spirits after winning their last two home games against St Patrick’s Athletic and Shelbourne.
In fact, Dundalk have lost only one of their last 21 home league games. Those looking for a correct-score wager, should take the hosts to prevail 2-1, especially given both teams have scored in five of the visitors’ six league games this term.
