Dundee United vs Motherwell Betting Tips & Predictions

Dundee United have been picking up some rare points recently, and when you add that to their successful showings in the Scottish FA Cup you start to see a bit of a resurgence from the previously doomed Scottish Premiership side.

They have won three, drawn one, and lost one of their last five matches in all competitions. This is a stark contrast when compared to their previous 14 results, which saw them win just once and lose 11 times.

Dundee United are still in trouble though. They remain at the foot of the Scottish Premiership table with just 14 points from their opening 24 games, and a win on Tuesday is an absolute must if they are to continue their survival challenge.

Motherwell themselves occupy the relegation playoff position of 11^th, but they at least have a 12 point cushion over the automatic relegation that their hosts on Tuesday face.

A win for the visitors on Tuesday could send them into the safe zone of the Scottish Premiership, and they could potentially move as high as 8^th in the table.

However, poor winter weather has left the bottom half of the table in a mess in terms of games in hand. Dundee United have played 24 games, with Motherwell on 25 matches and a number of the teams above them on either 23 or 26.

Motherwell aren’t in the same vein of form as Dundee United coming into this game either. They haven’t won any of their last six matches in all competitions, with all but one ending in defeat for them.

Dundee United managed to get one of their three Scottish Premiership wins so far this season when they played Motherwell in August, with a 2-0 away win being a rare positive in an otherwise disastrous season.

I think they could make it a double over their relegation rivals on Tuesday. They are in much better form than their opposition and have the psychological advantage of an away win under their belts. Odds of 21/20 for a home win look good to me, and I’m predicting another 2-0 win at 10/1 as well.
