Ronaldo-less Juve can still threaten in Kiev

An excellent run in the Champions League qualifiers saw AZ Alkmaar and Gent eliminated at the hands of Dynamo Kiev, allowing the Ukrainian side access to the group stages for the first time since 2016.

The financial rewards will be welcomed, but after being drawn in a group alongside Juventus and Barcelona their chances of making the knockout stages appear slim at best.

It’s the former of the two European giants that they face on matchday one, and while the Turin side remain without Cristiano Ronaldo after his positive COVID-19 test they are still very much favourites on Tuesday night.

Juventus have won two and drawn two under new boss Andrea Pirlo, and while their 1-1 draw at the newly promoted Crotone on Saturday was a major disappointment they can and should hit back with a win on Tuesday.
