      Eastleigh to Win

      Reason for tip

Aldershot have been well beaten in both their away games to date and a leaky defence leaves them vulnerable for the trip to Eastleigh, who are desperate to kickstart what’s been a tough season.

      Eastleigh 3-1

      Reason for tip

The Spitfires bagged three the last time they played at home and may match that figure against an Aldershot side that’s shipped seven goals in the last two away games.

      Eastleigh vs Aldershot Predictions

      • Eastleigh have lost just one of the last seven meetings with Aldershot
      • Aldershot have lost both their away league games this season
      • The Shots have the third-worst defensive record in the National League

      Spitfires ready for season take-off

Eastleigh will hope the old phrase of form going out the window in a derby proves correct when they host Hampshire rivals Aldershot aiming for their first win of the season.

The campaign hasn’t gone to plan for the Spitfires, who made several high-profile signings during the summer but currently find themselves in the relegation zone after five games.

Friday’s loss to Southend United was manager Lee Bradbury’s final game in charge with the ex-Bournemouth striker being given the boot after overseeing a winless run that stretches back to March.

Shots there to be shot at

But a visit from a leaky Aldershot side dealing with a few injuries looks like the perfect opportunity for Eastleigh to kickstart their season.

The Shots beat Wealdstone on Saturday, their first win in four games, to move into 13th place in the standings, four points better off than their hosts.

They face a quicker turnaround than Eastleigh here though, tough when numbers are limited, and they don’t have a great recent record in this fixture, winning only one of the last seven derbies.

Defensively, there are major concerns about Tommy Widdrington’s men, who are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and shipped five on a recent trip to Oldham.

Eastleigh’s last home game against Barnet finished as a 3-3 draw, while these two shared six goals the last time they met so a high-scoring encounter seems likely with the Spitfires taken to edge it.
