Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Napoli leaves Atalanta sitting 13th in Serie A and, having won only one of their last nine matches, Eintracht Frankfurt should be full of belief that they can claim their scalp.

Atalanta have taken seven points from four Champions League outings but they have scored only three goals and a 0-0 draw at home to Slavia Prague shows that they are currently a shadow of the side that we have been accustomed to watching.

So this looks like an ideal opportunity for Eintracht Frankfurt, who stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to six with a thrilling 4-3 victory at Cologne on Saturday.

The Bundesliga side have taken some heavy beatings in this competition, losing 5-1 to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool, but they brushed aside Galatasaray by the same scoreline and have also held Napoli to a goalless draw.

Frankfurt have won their last two Bundesliga home games to nil and they may be able to edge a tight encounter with Atalanta, who have seen two or fewer goals scored in their last five road fixtures and are lacking creativity in the final third.
