Empoli Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Empoli have avoided defeat in four of their last six home league games, including against all four of the teams currently sitting just below Napoli in the table. Meanwhile, the Partonopei have failed to win seven of their last nine away league games (four defeats).

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Napoli have drawn five of their last nine Serie A games, four of which finished 1-1. A similar result could occur at Empoli, who have drawn two of their last five at home and scored no more than one goal in seven of their last nine games at Stadio Carlo Castellani.

M'Baye Niang To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

M’Baye Niang has scored four goals in nine Serie A appearances since joining Empoli in January, but many of those have been from the bench. His record of four goals in 414 minutes follows on from a prolific spell in Turkiye earlier this season when he scored eight league goals in 16 games (nine starts).

Empoli can upset the odds

Empoli can dent Napoli’s bid to play in European competition next season and bolster their own survival bid with a positive result at Stadio Carlo Castellani on Saturday.

Gli Azzurri are fighting to stay up and earned a vital victory a fortnight ago when beating Torino 3-2 at home.

Since January, Davide Nicola’s side have taken points from the four teams currently sitting just below eighth-placed Napoli in the table – Torino, Fiorentina, Monza and Genoa – at their place. So it would not be a huge shock if they were to upset the odds again.

Partenopei have problems in defence

Napoli travel to Tuscany with a solid recent run of form behind them, including a solid 1-1 draw at champions-elect Inter Milan sandwiched between 6-1 and 4-2 wins over Sassuolo and Monza respectively.

Victor Osimhen has scored five goals in Napoli’s last four away trips, but he might be outshone by Empoli forward M’Baye Niang in this one as the visitors will be forced to play with a patchwork defence.

Amir Rrahmani and Mario Rui are suspended while Juan Jesus and Mathias Olivera remain injured, forcing changes that could enable Niang to add to his recent goal tally. The Partenopei still have quality in attacking positions, but it took a stoppage-time goal for Bologna to take three points at Empoli, who can make things very difficult for  Francesco Calzona’s side.
