Serie A pacesetters Napoli will look to stay out in front of their title rivals when they face Empoli at Stadio Carlo Castellani on Sunday.

The Partonopei suffered a humiliating defeat to their relegation-haunted hosts on their last visit to the ground in the spring and will be desperate to avoid a similar fate.

Meanwhile, Empoli’s eight-game unbeaten run at the start of this campaign was ended by Lazio just prior to the international break. But it took a late winner at Stadio Olimpico to break their resistance and it may push Napoli to the limits to find a way to win this one too.

Conte’s side could be pushed hard

Antonio Conte’s side have won six of their last seven games, but only two of those matches were away from home. And one of those away trips saw them held 0-0 by Juventus.

Empoli have not conceded a goal at their place yet, but neither have they scored in three consecutive 0-0 home draws against Monza, Juventus and Fiorentina.

Backers are unlikely to lose faith in Conte’s men to get all three points in this clash, but any expectations of a comfortable victory with multiple goals may prove fanciful.
