Parma can add to Empoli woes

Parma can take the away win and add to Empoli’s recent woes when they visit Stadio Carlo Castellani on Saturday. The hosts are struggling to find the back of the net this season, and Roberto D’Aversa’s side will be hoping to avoid a defeat in front of their own fans.

Parma are four places above Empoli in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they have won this season. Parma, in 15th, have six wins and 15 defeats, while Empoli have won four and lost 18.

Empoli could not break their losing run last time, losing 1-0 to ten-man Lazio at home last weekend in their last Serie A outing. Empoli, who were priced as 16/5 outsiders to win the game, didn’t create many scoring opportunities and are in danger of being relegated.

They have been disappointing in front of goal at home this season, scoring just seven goals in 17 home games – an average of 0.41 goals per game.

They have failed to score in five of their last six matches at Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Empoli’s struggles at the back are a major concern, with no clean sheets in 23 of their last 24 Serie A games. They have failed to keep out the opposition in 12 of their last 14 home matches.

A 2-1 away win for Parma looks like a decent correct-score option. Three of their six wins this season have come via a 2-1 scoreline, and Empoli have lost two games on the spin by a single goal.
