Espanyol vs Granada Predictions
Unlike the other sides in the bottom three Levante and Las Palmas, Granada have so far opted to keep faith with their manager José Ramón Sandoval after he inspired a late escape last year to ensure they stayed in the division for another season.
The pressure is mounting though with only one win all season so far and none in the last 7 games. 3 successive draws have at least stopped the rot although they’ll have been disappointed given they led the last two matches against Real Betis and Sporting Gijon.
Granada’s problems are far from terminal yet and we shouldn’t be too stunned given they only won 7 matches in all of last season, 3 of which came in the final 4 games.
Espanyol likewise look to be in similar shape to last term. 4 wins and 5 defeats so far has left them in 11th place, just 1 below their finishing position in 2014/15. They were quite poor last time out losing 3-0 to Rayo Vallecano but were impressive 3-1 winners at Real Betis the weekend before so they are a little unpredictable.
Back on home soil against fairly weak opposition you have to fancy them though even without the suspended Victor Sanchez, whose dismissal was certainly a contributing factor to their defeat in Vallecas.
It is also worth noting here that Espanyol have done the double over Granada in each of the last two seasons. Given they are looking poor again this term, there is no reason to really think Granada will be able to fair any better here and surely all the value is to be had in backing Espanyol to win at 19/20.
Both their home wins so far have been 1-0 against Getafe and Valencia and it is hard to see many goals in this as the visitors are likely to come with a cautious approach. Therefore consider backing Espanyol to win 1-0 again at 11/2.
