Espanyol vs Levante Predictions
This the Second meeting between the sides in the space of five days after the pair met in the Copa del Rey on Thursday night. Levante were at home on that occasion but fell behind to goal from 2nd half substitute Mamadou Sylla before Roger Marti came off the bench to level late on for the Valencia club.
We are likely to see very different line-ups from both sides here though so we shouldn’t read too much into that game. Levante are bottom of the league and were beaten 1-0 at home by Real Betis last weekend although would have got something out of the game had striker Jeyverson not missed an open goal.
They have improved over the past few weeks and won well at Sporting Gijon in their last away game but this will be much tougher against an Espanyol side that are having another solid season.
They are regulars in the middle reaches of La Liga and their home form, particularly their ability to see off bottom half clubs at the Power8 Stadium is generally the main reason why they tend to avoid getting sucked into any relegation scraps.
They have won 3 of their 6 home games so far this term with Valencia, Malaga and Getafe their victims and a game at home to the bottom club presents them with a good chance to make that 4 out of 7 and they are good value to do that at Evens.
They don’t tend to win big though. Those 3 home wins were all to nil and they are well capable of keeping another clean sheet here against a Levante side that have the 2nd worst goalscoring record in the league. Two of those victories were by 1-0 margins and this could be another one and you can back that to be the case at 5/1.
