Everton vs Bournemouth Predictions
Roberto Martinez must have felt the pressure on his shoulders increase in weight ten fold last Saturday evening as his Everton side crashed out of the FA Cup in the semi finals. They were flat and lifeless in the first half at Wembley, but to their credit came back at Manchester United in the second half. It wasn’t enough for them though, and they eventually lost 2-1, although it could easily have ended 4-3 to either side.
This puts the icing on the cake of what has been an incredibly frustrating season for Everton fans. They made the League Cup semi finals as well, and coming close to the final in two cup competitions will go nowhere to allaying the concerning Premier League performance. They have only won nine of their 34 league games so far, a tally that puts them down in 11th position with just 41 points.
Everton come into this match having not won any of their last seven games in all competitions. Earlier in the season it was just their defence that was letting them down, but now it seems that their talented attacking players can’t find the net either. They have scored just three goals in these seven matches and conceded 11 at the other end.
Bournemouth are sitting level on points with Everton down in 14th position, and a win for the visitors on Saturday could see them move as high as 11th. A top half finish would round off what has been a very impressive debut season for the pre-season relegation favourites.
They are in a bit of a slump at the moment having won one and lost four of their last five matches, but to be fair to them they have had to face Spurs, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea. Last time out they actually did a very good job against Chelsea, but the visitors’ efficiency saw Bournemouth come away 4-1 losers.
Prior to this Bournemouth were doing well and had won three matches on the trot, and the visitors are a lot better than their recent results suggest. I think they can get something out of an Everton side who have the second worst home record in the league this season. The hosts have won just four of their 17 home matches, and this makes odds of 4/5 for a Bournemouth Win or Draw Double Chance excellent value. I’m backing Bournemouth to get a win as well with a 2-1 correct score prediction at 11/1.
