Everton vs Brentford Predictions
- No club has drawn more Premier League matches than Brentford (11) this season
- Sean Dyche has won only two of his first six games in charge of Everton
- Both teams have scored in 14 of Brentford’s 24 league fixtures this term
- Two of Brentford’s last three matches have finished as 1-1 draws
Brentford target European qualification
While Brentford have thrown their hat into the ring for European qualification in the season’s Premier League, Everton are simply struggling to stay afloat in the top flight but it could be closer than expected when these sides meet at Goodison Park this Saturday.
After a decent first season in the Premier League, in which they placed 13th, the Bees are loving life in their second campaign, comfortably nestled in the mid-table positions with an eye on the European places.
Last time out they pulled off a huge 3-2 win at home to west London rivals Fulham thanks to goals from Ethan Pinnock, Ivan Toney and Mathias Jensen and they look like genuine contenders for a spot in next season’s Europa League or Europa Conference League.
Everton’s home advantage could balance things out
But while Thomas Frank’s team are a force to be reckoned with at their Gtech Community Stadium home, losing only once there in the league this season, they have struggled a little more on the road.
Indeed only two of the club’s nine Premier League successes this season have come away from home and punters should not rush to back them against Everton.
The Toffees are still finding their feet under new boss Sean Dyche, having played six games under the former Burnley manager so far.
Those six matches have produced two wins, one draw and three defeats but both of the victories they have recorded under Dyche’s stewardship came at Goodison Park.
They were also both 1-0 wins, coming against Arsenal and Leeds, and they should fancy their chances of giving Brentford a game.
Toffees can keep it tight at Goodison Park
Everton showed glimpses of promise away to Nottingham Forest last time out, drawing 2-2 but having led until the 77th minute and gone toe-to-toe with one of the division’s better home sides.
Going forwards, Dyche looks unsure of his best attacking combination, switching between Ellis Simms, Neal Maupay and, most recently, Demarai Gray as a lone striker, but those aforementioned home clean sheets suggest they are a bit tougher at the back with Dyche in charge.
Everton are stronger at home – four of their five league wins have come at Goodison Park – and Brentford are weaker on their travels, so that should balance this out a bit and the draw looks the most likely outcome.
Brentford drew with London rivals Arsenal and Crystal Palace 1-1 last month and that looks like the best correct score prediction, having also been the score when these sides met back in August.
