Everton vs Chelsea Predictions
Everton managed to get a points out of their last trip to White Hart Lane, with a goalless draw keeping Spurs winless after four games played.
This was Everton’s 5th point of the season, with a win and two draws joining their 2-0 loss to Manchester City.
This isn’t a spectacular start by any stretch of the imagination, but considering three of their opening four games were against teams such as Southampton, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur, I think five points is a decent return.
This leaves them in 9th position in the Premier League. But it does seem that they’re getting all their tough tests out of the way early, with fixtures against Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal all coming before the end of October.
One of the side stories to this match is related to John Stones, who handed in a transfer request with Everton to try and force a move to Chelsea. He has continued to act professional despite this request being denied, but it will be interesting to see if he’s chosen to face the Premier League Champions.
If he is selected, Leighton Baines won’t be joining him in the defensive lineup. His injury is still keeping him on the sidelines alongside Brendan Galloway and Steven Pienaar. Chelsea are only expected to be without Oscar for the trip.
Chelsea have had a dismal start to the season. They began it with a 1-0 loss to Arsenal in the Community Shield. They followed this with an opening day draw at home to Swansea, with a 3-0 loss to Manchester City coming the weekend after.
Their only win of the season wasn’t exactly convincing either, with West Brom giving them a good run for their money in a 3-2 defeat. Crystal Palace gave them a better run for their money by beating them 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
This is a shocking start for the defending champions, with both their attack and defence looks to be lacking in pace.
Mourinho is already being tipped to lose his job before long, and I don’t think Everton will get a better chance to defeat Chelsea in a long time.
One thing both teams have in their locker is attacking talent. Diego Costa might not be firing for Chelsea, but that hasn’t stopped them scoring in three of their four Premier League games, a record that Everton have matched. I think that odds of 5/6 for Both Teams to Score look like good value.
