Can Excelsior exceed expectations?

Rotterdam plays host to this top flight clash between Excelsior and Vitesse, but it was the Eredivisie new boys who got their campaign off to a flying start for the fourth straight season when playing at this level with a 2-0 win away to Cambuur.

Returning home should be a good omen then, though the challenge posed by perennial European challengers Vitesse is much more considerable than that of their round one opponents.

Vitesse need to get up and running

After losing by a demoralising 5-2 scoreline against Feyenoord on the opening day, Vitesse now turn their attention to the other Rotterdam outfit to get something on the board.

Visiting boss Thomas Letsch won his only prior personal H2H with Excelsior and he will hope to double up on that victory in order to get Vitesse’s latest European play-off charge underway.
