Falkirk vs Albion Predictions
- Falkirk’s only defeat in their last six home League Cup ties was a 4-0 loss to Rangers (Won 4, drawn 1)
- Albion Rovers played out a 0-0 with Ayr United in the League Cup before winning on penalties.
- Both teams have not scored in four of the last six Falkirk home League Cup ties and five of the last six Albion Rovers away League Cup contests.
Falkirk host Albion Rovers in Group E of the Scottish League Cup on Tuesday.
The Bairns were the only side outside Scotland’s top two divisions to make it to the knockout rounds last season, although their run was brought to an abrupt end by Rangers (0-4).
New boss Paul Sheerin has added seven new faces this summer as he attempts to get the Bairns back up to Championship level and cup competitions could well take a back seat this term.
They saw a recent friendly against Arbroath called off, meaning their last pre-season action was a 4-0 defeat to Hearts ten days prior to the visit of the Wee Rovers.
The League Two side arrive on the back of a shoot-out win against Championship outfit Ayr United in their first Group E game.
Brian Reid handed debuts to five players in that game and can be pleased with the way his team stuck to their task and created chances.
Sadly, none were put away in the 90 minutes and we don’t expect Tuesday’s game to be a goal-laden game either.
Backing ‘Both teams to score – No’ looks a solid play based on both sides’ history in this competition and the likelihood that the hosts are still not a fully cohesive unit.
Nonetheless, we are taking Sheerin’s men to win 1-0 as a correct score play as Falkirk have won three of their last four home games in this competition.
