Falkirk vs Kilmarnock Predictions
Falkirk resigned Hibernian to yet another season in the Scottish Championship when they beat them in the promotion playoff semi final. This is the 2nd time in a row that Hibs have lost out in the playoffs, and it didn’t disappoint for the neutrals.
The teams went into the second leg at Falkirk level after a 2-2 draw at Hibs. Falkirk opened the scoring in the 13th minute but a quickfire brace from James Keatings put Hibs 2-1 in front at half-time. Hibs held on well after that, but a goal ten minutes from time levelled the scores yet again before Rob McHugh scored a dramatic 92nd minute winner for the hosts.
More of the same is needed here for Falkirk as they play the 11th placed team in the top flight. They come into the first leg unbeaten in their last seven matches and having only lost one of their last 15 in all competitions.
Many of their recent results have ended as draws though, but at home they always gun for the win. They have won six of their last seven games at the Falkirk Community Stadium and have an incredibly impressive record of 12 wins, two draws, and one defeat in their last 15 games on home turf.
Kilmarnock are coming into this game in lower spirits than their opponents. They’ve had a tough season and have ended up facing the prospect of relegation, and it was made even worse on the final day of the season when bottom of the table Dundee United beat them 4-2 at home.
This was their 3rd defeat in their last five matches, and away from home they have only won one of their last six in the Premiership. Kilmarnock have already lost once to Championship opponents this season when Rangers knocked them out of the Scottish Cup, so they will want to avoid the same fate on Thursday.
Falkirk are very impressive at home and are facing a side low on confidence after a poor season. I think Kilmarnock will really struggle on Thursday, so I’m backing a Falkirk Draw No Bet at good looking odds of 4/6 considering their excellent record at home this season. I’m going for a 2-1 correct score prediction at 8/1 too.
