Faroe Islands vs Northern Ireland Betting Tips

Faroe Islands began their campaign as expected, with three straight defeats leaving them at the bottom of the group.

However, they managed to pull themselves together when they faced Greece in Athens last November, and managed a fairly unexpected 1-0 victory.

Their 1-0 loss away to Group F leaders Romania was an expected loss, but they managed to do the double over a disappointing Greek side with a 2-1 victory at home.

This leaves them in 4^th position in Group F with six points from their first six games. They are five points adrift of 3^rd place Hungary though, so it is unlikely they will challenge for qualification to the finals.

Northern Ireland are in a much better position though. They are sitting in 2^nd position in Group F, and they are only a point behind the group leaders Romania.

With Romania playing against 3^rd place Hungary on Friday, Northern Ireland could have a really good chance of moving to the top of the group with just three games remaining.

This would be the first time Northern Ireland have ever qualified for the European Championships, and their first major finals since 1986.

Northern Ireland’s 13 points in Group F come from four wins, and a draw and a loss against Romania.

I wouldn’t expect it to be a high scoring game on Friday. Group F in general has been quite a low scoring group, with Northern Ireland being the leading scorers with 8 goals.

Only one of Northern Ireland’s last six matches has ended with over 2.5 goals, and only two of Faroe Islands have.

This, coupled with the fact that Faroe Island’s defensive record is slightly better at home, makes me think that odds of 3/5 for Under 2.5 Goals are pretty good value. I expect Northern Ireland to win as well, so backing Northern Ireland to Win and Under 2.5 Goals at 2/1 would also be a profitable bet in my opinion.
