Poland To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Poland may be struggling for form, but they were 2-0 winners over the Faroe Islands when the two teams met in September and each of Poland’s last six victories over any opponent have been to nil. For their part, the Faroes have lost their last four Euro qualifiers, scoring just one goal.

Poland 2-0

Reason for tip

Poland were 2-0 winners when these two sides met in September and they can repeat that scoreline at Torsvollur against a Faroe Islands team struggling for form and goals. The absence of the injured Robert Lewandowski means Poland may not be able to score more than twice but they should keep a clean-sheet.

Faroe Islands vs Poland Predictions

  • Faroe Islands have lost their last four Euro qualifiers, scoring just one goal
  • Poland’s last six victories have all been to nil
  • The Poles won the reverse meeting between the two sides in Warsaw 2-0

Poles to edge back into qualifying contention

Poland have featured at the last four European Championship finals, but they are in real danger of missing out on next summer’s tournament after winning just two of their opening five matches in qualifying Group E, losing the other three,

Last month’s 2-0 defeat in Albania led to the sacking of head coach Fernando Santos and his successor Michal Probierz will take charge of the team for the first time against the Faroe Islands.

One of Poland’s two wins in qualifying was a 2-0 success over the Faroes in Warsaw last month and they should be able to edge past them again, with Thursday’s hosts having lost their last four Euro qualifiers, scoring just a solitary goal in the process.

Wins to nil the order of the day for Poland

Poland’s form may be poor, but when they do win it tends to be backed up with a clean-sheet, as each of the Eagles’ last six victories have been to nil, a run that dates back over a year.

New head coach Probierz will also take heart from the fact Poland have won their last three meetings with the Faroe Islands without conceding, including last month’s 2-0 qualifying success which saw captain Robert Lewandowski grab both goals.

Lewandowski is not available for this match due an ankle injury he picked up on club duty with Barcelona, which will no doubt blunt Poland’s attack, but they are still capable of replicating last month’s 2-0 victory against a Faroes side struggling for form and goals.
