FC Copenhagen vs Bayer Leverkusen Predictions
- Five of Copenhagen’s last eight fixtures in all competitions have featured over 2.5 goals.
- 100% of Bayer Leverkusen’s four games in league and cup this term have produced at least three goals.
- Copenhagen have failed to win five of their last nine matches in all competitions.
Expect an entertaining opener in Copenhagen
Bayer Leverkusen’s controversial decision to sack Erik ten Hag after just two Bundesliga fixtures reaped some early dividends on Friday when Die Werkself roared to an impressive 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in new coach Kasper Hjulmand’s first game in charge.
Their triumph over Frankfurt at the BayArena was action-packed and alongside producing four goals, the game featured 30 shots, 38 tackles and ten cards, though entertainment has been guaranteed with the ticket at Leverkusen this season.
Bayer’s first four games of the new campaign averaged 4.25 goals with over 2.5 goals landing on each occasion, and the goal markets offer plenty of promise again ahead of the club’s trip to Denmark on Thursday.
Copenhagen, who were beaten 2-1 by rivals Brondby on Saturday, have managed to secure just two clean sheets in their last eight games in all competitions, and with their work at the back substandard, it’s difficult to see how they can keep Leverkusen off the scoresheet at Parken.
Leverkusen have conceded double-figure shots in each of their four matches since the summer however, including in their win over lower-league minnows Großaspach in the DFB Pokal, and they travel to the Danish capital with defensive frailties of their own.
The evidence suggests that a chaotic game is likely to develop at Parken then and we recommend backing over 2.5 goals to land for the fifth Leverkusen fixture in a row, while the Germans are backed to eventually edge the game 2-1.
Copenhagen made it to the Round of 16 in last season’s Conference League, but never really looked comfortable at any stage on the continent. They failed to win 70% of their ten games in the competition overall and conceded twice in four of their five runouts at home. Three of those matches ended in 2-1 defeats and they suffer a similar scoreline when they host a stronger Leverkusen outfit.
