FC Dallas vs Seattle Sounders Predictions

Dallas’ early season form suggested they might challenge for the MLS Cup this season, but a six game winless run, consisting of four defeats and two draws, has seen the club slip down to seventh place in the Western Conference; and another failure to take maximum points on Sunday could see them drop to as low as ninth. Seattle Sounders remain second in the table despite only winning two of their last six matches in the MLS, but are now eight points behind LAFC with just one game in hand.

Dallas found themselves 2-0 down at halftime away at Vancouver Whitecaps, where despite pulling a goal back through Badji the visitors ended up losing a game they should have won. Dallas had 62% of the overall possession, thirteen corners to their host’s none, and eighteen shots to Vancouver Whitecaps’ five, yet somehow lost 2-1. Sporting KC and Seattle Sounders put on a five-goal thriller at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas on Sunday, where the hosts went in at the interval two goals to the good. Ruidiaz pulled a goal back shortly after the hour mark, but Seattle went 3-1 down shortly after, and even though Leerdam made it 3-2 with nineteen minutes left on the clock the visitors were unable to carve out an equaliser.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs, and their performances in the MLS this last month, suggest that both teams will score on Sunday and that the most likely result is a draw. Three of the last six meetings between these two clubs have seen both teams score, while four of Dallas’ and four of Seattle Sounders’ last six matches also have seen both teams score. Dallas have drawn two of their last three home games, while Seattle Sounders have drawn three of their last six matches. The hosts are without a win in their last six matches, while their guests have only won two of their last six, which is why we’re backing a 1-1 draw between the pair this weekend.

Ferreira top scores for Dallas with four MLS goals, while Ruidiaz has netted five times for Seattle Sounders. We’re confident that both teams will score on Sunday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-1. Neither side have been winning many games of late, but both have seen the majority of their last six matches end with both teams getting on the scoreboard. Seattle Sounders are the form favourites, but haven’t won any of their last five games on the road.
