FC Den Bosch vs Excelsior Predictions
- Den Bosch failed to win 13 of their last 17 home league games last season.
- Excelsior have won three of their last four away Eerste Divisie games, all by 2-1.
- Excelsior have won five of their last seven competitive meetings with Den Bosch (2 draws).
Excelsior can maintain excellent away run
Fifth-placed Excelsior travel to Den Bosch, in seventh, on Friday for an Eerste Divisie matchup that they have dominated over the past few years.
Roodzwarten have won all but two of the last seven competitive contests between the second-flight clubs.
The Blue White Dragons have not beaten them in a competitive match since 2013 and this doesn’t feel like a good chance for them to change that.
Jack de Gier’s side began the season promisingly with back-to-back wins, but they have since suffered two straight defeats and looked much more like they did last season.
That was when they won only four of their last 13 league games to finish a dismal 11th in the table, although De Gier wasn’t totally responsible as he only took charge in February.
The form of both these clubs can be compared through their recent displays against Jong Ajax.
The Rotterdammers won with a bit to spare at Ajax’s De Toekomst complex last weekend to spare, hitting the woodwork twice before racing into a 2-0 lead only to see the hosts pull one back through an 89th minute penalty.
Den Bosh were beaten 3-2 at home by close to the same Ajax side the previous week and needed a 95th minute goal to avoid losing by two clear goals.
That’s why our selection is a 2-1 away win on Friday – and because three of Excelsior’s last four away league games have finished in 2-1 victories for them.
