FC Zurich to Win and Over 3.5 Match Goals

    Reason for tip

FC Zurich easily brushed aside opposition when they qualified for the Europa League in the 22/23 season, and they should do the same this time around in the Conference League. They finished last season in fine form and should be different class to Shelbourne here. Shelbourne have been in good form though, and will give this a good go, it wouldn’t be a shock if they got a goal of their own.

    21/10odds when tipped

    FC Zurich 4-1

    Reason for tip

This will be a tough task for Shelbourne, who face a team who play in a much stronger league. FC Zurich beat similar opposition when qualifying for the Europa League last year and done won pretty easily. If they getting going quickly and get a goal early on, there’s every chance they’ll get a few more and put the tie to bed before the second leg.

    FC Zurich vs Shelbourne Predictions

    • Switzerland’s country coefficient is seventeen places higher than Ireland’s.
    • FC Zurich finished last season in great form, winning their last four games and scoring two in each of them
    • FC Zurich won all four of their Europa League qualifying games in 22/23

Rejuvenated FC Zurich will be tough for Shelbourne to stop

It hasn’t been all plain sailing for FC Zurich since they won the 2021/2022 Swiss Super League, finishing eighth and fourth in their next two seasons. An eighth-place finish meant no European football for them last season, but fourth has earned them a place in the European Conference League this term.

Ricardo Moniz took over the team in April this year, and they appear to have turned a corner under him. They have won five competitive games under the Dutchman, scoring twice in each of them.

With form on their side, they look well-placed to outclass a Shelbourne side who compete in a far weaker league.

    Goals should continue for Zurich

The hosts certainly looked better under their new manager, and are playing with much more confidence than they were at the start of the year.

Shelbourne do have a decent defensive record in the Irish Premier Division, but this is a much tougher ask, and if they concede early, they may unravel and end up conceding a few to the Swiss team.

They are capable of scoring themselves, though, and will be capable of getting one, but it’ll be no more than a consolation, and they’ll do well to not let the tie get away from them this leg.
